The Ravens added another special teams ace to the roster Wednesday, signing veteran safety J.T. Gray after he was released by the New Orleans Saints.

Gray, 29, is a three-time All-Pro and was a special teams Pro Bowler in 2021.

Undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2018, Gray was one of the Saints' longest-tenured players and a captain, and his release came as a surprise.

Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore said Gray's release came down to roster flexibility and was not related to a hamstring injury he suffered earlier this summer. Gray is already on the field and practicing for the Ravens.

"That was one of the hardest things so far this year," Moore said, via ESPN . "It was a challenging move, he's a really good special teams player and a really good player."
