LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW)– On Wednesday, The Hope Center, which provides shelter to the homeless, opened a new wing of the emergency shelter.

According to CEO Jeff Crook, the Quantrell Jones Center helps provide additional services and prepares people to move into permanent housing.

“This transitional housing will give them the skills needed in order for them to remain housed once they move back into the community,” said Crook.

The center provides 72 beds for those who are homeless. 32 of those beds are for veterans.

Emmanuel Bell, was a corporal in the army. He has been staying at The Hope Center for awhile.

“I come from laying on the floor on a mattress,” said Bell. “This is the best program, the best building for veterans in the state of Kentucky.”
