The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has taken another significant step forward in replacement of the Cape Cod Canal bridges.
MassDOT announced that the department has filed a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act Office (MEPA) for replacement of the Sagamore and Bourne bridges.
Luisa Paiewonsky is overseeing the bridges replacement project as the executive director of MassDOT’s Office of Megaproject Delivery. During an interview this week, Paiewonsky said the DEIR was filed on September 2. She spoke of the importance of the DEIR filing, calling it “a big milestone that we’ve been working toward for some time now.”
