Would Lanny Frattare be inducted into the Pirates Media Wall of Fame?
There was no doubt about it.
Frattare, the longtime Pirates play-by-play announcer, was inducted into the Pirates Media Wall of Fame on Wednesday in a luncheon at PNC Park. He was introduced by Pirates team broadcaster Greg Brown, team president Travis Williams, former Pirates manager Jim Leyland and former public-address announcer Tim DeBacco.
Frattare began broadcasting Pirates games in 1976 and continued through the 2008 season. In 2008, he was nominated for the Ford Frick award, presented by the Baseball Hall of Fame to a broadcaster who made major contributions to the game of baseball.
