A public health alert has been issued for a Trader Joe’s frozen pizza after the product was imported from Italy and not reinspected, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the alert on Aug. 29 for Trader Joe’s Uncured Pepperoni Pizza , a frozen, not-ready-to-eat product imported from Italy.

The FSIS said the products did not receive the benefit of import re-inspection once they were shipped from Italy to retail locations in California.

Trader Joe’s notified the FSIS that the product was not presented for reinspection, but a recall was not issued since the items are no longer available for purchase in stores, the FSIS said.

Trader Joe’s shared the same statement it posted on its website in an email with TODAY.com.
