MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — A Mount Pleasant man is charged with kidnapping a woman and sexually assaulting her for weeks before she managed to break free.

The ordeal came to law enforcement’s attention on Aug. 30 when a 21-year-old woman called the Michigan State Police to report having escaped from the captivity of a man. The woman told troopers she was unhoused and had been living in a tent in a wooded area between the Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods on East Blue Grass Road in Union Township.
