A Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital hallway erupted in cheers, high-fives, and hugs this month as 14-year-old Evan Lallo rang the "bravery bell," a tradition marking the end of cancer treatment.
For Lallo, the moment symbolized victory over Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone and soft tissue cancer.
“I was surprised by how many people were there to support me that day,” Lallo said. “It meant a lot seeing everyone who cared for me along the way.”
Lallo’s journey began in the summer of 2024, when persistent pain in his right shoulder was initially diagnosed as rotator cuff tendinitis. But as the pain worsened, doctors ordered an MRI that revealed a mass in his neck.
