INDIANAPOLIS – Colts coach Shane Steichen calls it “finding completions.” He says it all the time, and he says it about Daniel Jones, and it sounds a lot like something Colts general manager Chris Ballard once said about what he was looking for in a quarterback:
Make the layups.
Remember? That was Ballard in 2021, a reference to Carson Wentz’s inability to complete – or even attempt – easy passes as the primary reason the Colts decided to move on. They chose someone who could make the layups, someone who could, in today’s parlance, “find completions.”
