Murder charges have been unsealed against a Gary man in connection with a July 31 double homicide.

Alex Dominique Russell, 35, faces two counts of murder; two felony counts of unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon; and two misdemeanors.

On August 29, Russell, 35, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force pursuant to a search and arrest warrant.

Around 4:01 a.m. on July 31, Gary Police were investigating a double homicide, where the victims were found dead in the driver’s seat and front passenger seat of a blue Honda CR-V in the Village Shopping Center parking lot, according to the probable cause affidavit. The victims — 37-year-old Dante Givens and 36-year-old Deon Stewart — were fatally shot in the head and neck, respectively.
