Missouri football has been forced into an early change of plans at the backup quarterback position.

An injury to Sam Horn will keep the redshirt junior off the football field for “an extended period of time, per head coach Eli Drinkwitz. There is no current timeline for when Horn may be eligible to return. He had been competing with Penn State transfer Beau Pribula for the starting job, and with Horn out indefinitely, Pribula is now the confirmed starter.

But, Horn’s injury also leaves a hole in the backup role.

To fill that position, Mizzou is turning to true freshman Matt Zollers, who will be a play away from being MU’s starting quarterback beginning Saturday against Kansas. That is perhaps a little earlier than expected, but Drinkwitz made absolutely clear Tuesday that Zollers is
