PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KVOA) - Pima County is expanding the subsidy offered to low-income residents that helps with monthly sewer user fees.

On Sept. 2, the Pima County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the revision to the Sewer Outreach Subsidy (SOS) program , which will take effect on Oct. 2.

The expansion will allow more households to qualify for the program, with some individuals receiving up to an 80 percent discount on their sewer fees.

Jackson Jenkins, director of the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department, emphasized the program's role in preventing the sewer fee from becoming a burden for low-income customers.

“Our department remains committed to both fiscal responsibility and providing exceptional service to the community," Jenkins said.
