SHERIDAN — Large animal veterinarians are in short supply in Wyoming, but a legislative committee recently rejected a draft bill to provide licensure to vet techs.

At last week’s meeting of the Wyoming Legislature's Joint Agriculture Committee, Wyoming Stock Growers Association Executive Vice President Jim Magagna noted Wyoming has a shortage of large animal veterinarians, and the technician position could encourage people to build their careers in Wyoming.

“We think this would be of assistance to help alleviate that problem,” said Brett Moline, policy advocacy director of the Wyoming Farm Bureau. “Will it be a cure? No. It’s a step in the right direction.”
