CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte Area Transit System, or CATS, intends to increase fare inspection and install ticket validators on its light rail platforms.
The public transportation agency made the announcement during a special-called meeting with the Metro Transit Commission on Wednesday.
CATS does not believe accused killer Decarlos Brown Jr. paid for a ticket to ride the light rail, when he allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old woman on August 22.
CATS is also working on having more private security guards patrol the public transportation system.
“I think that there should be more security involved especially because, I mean, no one really checks [tickets] honestly. You can just walk on and take the light rail as you please,” said passenger Lizzett Angeles-Ramirez.
