LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Tuesday, WKYT Investigates looked at one of the biggest expenses for Fayette County Public Schools, payroll.

An area recently placed on the chopping block by Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins is professional leave. On August 28th, he announced FCPS would be “restricting overnight professional learning at the district level,” to save approximately $750,000.

WKYT has been looking into travel and trips for the last year and a half. It sparked a series of stories last December on dollars going out the door at each board meeting.

When 28 Fayette County School Administrators and one school staffer took a trip to Denver last summer for a conference, they racked up a $122,000 tab. Records show the trip was paid for using Title IV dollars.
