JACKSON — Former Medicaid recipients in Mississippi have agreed to pay a total of $173,627 to settle allegations that they falsified income to unlawfully qualify their dependents for health care benefits.
Federal authorities said the recipients — who were officers, registered agents, members or owners of convenience stores, gas stations, liquor stores, restaurants or other businesses — underreported household income on benefit applications and renewals. Prosecutors allege the misrepresentations led the Mississippi Division of Medicaid to provide coverage they were not entitled to receive.
Those agreeing to the settlement are Rajwinder Kaur and Kawaldeep Singh; Narinder Kaur and Prabhdeep Momi; Bobby and Priyalpreet Babber; Gurinder and Mehaknoor Babber; and Navdeep Basra.
