Southern California families and business owners may be offered financial incentives to replace their conventional, gas-powered water heating or HVAC system with zero-emmission, electric equipment.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District Wednesday launched a pilot program to provide up to $5,000 in rebate to single and multi-family homes as well as small businesses.

Two thirds of the $21 million funding is reserved for the communities that are vulnerable to environmental harms and health impacts, so they upgrade their homes to more efficient technologies that can help reduce their utility payments while cutting pollution.
