A Scituate man was ordered held without bail Tuesday on a charge of murdering a 27-year-old Maine resident whose body was found wrapped in blankets and duct tape in a car in the parking lot of South Shore Hospital in Weymouth , officials said.

And neighbors to Christopher Caron unwittingly helped him move the wrapped body into his car, after he had told them that it was a mannequin of a hockey goalie, prosecutors said in Hingham District Court.

Caron, 42, pleaded not guilty to a murder charge during his arraignment, where he was ordered held pending a hearing on Sept. 29.

Prosecutors said Caron told people that the victim, Declan Perry, 27, of Portland, had suffered a fatal overdose, but an autopsy revealed he had been beaten and strangled.
