At a Soldotna City Council meeting, Mayor Paul Whitney issued two proclamations for September.

The mayor declared September 2025 as “Hunger Action Month,” highlighting ongoing efforts to address hunger and poverty in the community.

The city recognized the work of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, which serves over 25,000 individuals annually and distributed more than 1.44 million pounds of food in 2024.

“Members of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank bring awareness and attention to encourage involvement and efforts and to end hunger in our local community,” said Mayor Whitney.

The proclamation encourages citizens to support awareness efforts and engage in local hunger relief initiatives throughout the month.
