CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are publicly clashing over the team’s proposed stadium in Brook Park.
Airport officials say the Browns need to lower the stadium’s height or move it because of safety concerns to the airspace. The team says it has no plans to alter the design.
In early August, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) sent a letter denying the Browns’ permit to build the stadium , siding with the airport’s assessment that the design intruded into protected airspace by 58 feet and posed a safety risk for airport operations. In the denial letter, ODOT gave the Browns three options: lower the stadium, move it, or hope the airport changed its position.
