STROUD TOWNSHIP, PA — One man is charged after an hours-long standoff in part of Monroe County.

EMS tells Newswatch 16 that officers responded to Walnut Grove Town Homes in Stroud Township around 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Stroud Area Regional Police say that they were called to the area for a report of a male destroying the community sign with a hammer. The male was identified as Alexander Ball, age 29, of East Stroudsburg, a resident in the community.

Police attempted to make contact with Ball, but he refused to respond and was heard screaming, cursing, and breaking things inside the home.

For a time, his mother was inside, as Ball did not let her leave, but she was able to leave once Ball went upstairs. Police then made a perimeter around the home, and neighbors were told to stay
