RICHMOND — Virginia Commonwealth University and its health system received $257 million in donations in the 2025 fiscal year, its second-largest haul, the university said Tuesday.

VCU received donations from more than 22,000 donors during the fiscal year, which ended June 30, and their gifts formed a significant component of the university's $1.7 billion operating budget.

The university has increased its fundraising prowess in recent years — VCU brought in $100 million more than it raised in 2021.

"This remarkable momentum is a testament to the belief our supporters have in VCU's mission," said Jay Davenport, VCU's vice president for development and alumni relations.
