ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Powerball has climbed to a $1.4 billion jackpot after no winners were drawn Monday night that matched the six numbers.
Euphoria Liquor Owner Carl Fantauzzo said that it gets busy when more money is on the table.
“We definitely see a pretty large uptick when the Powerball is at numbers that it is now,” he said.
According to a recent study by Lending Tree, New York State is among the top five states where residents spend the most on lottery tickets.
“You spend a few bucks and you get to dream for the rest of the day about what you'll spend the money on," said Lending Tree Chief Consumer Finance Analyst Matt Schulz. "Its kind of a cheap form of entertainment and as long as you don't do it too often or in too big of a way, there’s really no harm in it.”
