Three people, including a child, were hurt in a crash on North Broad Street in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Investigators say a 33-year-old man was driving a white Hyundai Kona in the wrong direction on Broad Street — going south in the northbound lanes — when he ran a red light and hit a white Toyota Camry around 4:15 p.m. The Camry had been traveling eastbound on Wallace Street. Both cars were significantly damaged in the crash, Philadelphia police said.

An 11-year-old boy who was riding in the Camry was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition with multiple injuries. The driver of the Camry, a 37-year-old man and the boy's dad, declined medical treatment and went to the hospital with his son, according to pol
