KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Pigeon Forge police are hoping to bring awareness to childhood cancer this month with a specially designed patrol car.

The car has a yellow hood and the public is invited to sign the hood to show their support for childhood cancer.

This has affected Officer Craig Cruise personally, as his granddaughter was diagnosed with cancer at 4 months old.

She’s now 4 years old, in remission and officers hope to remember those who deal with this disease.

“It was a way for us to pull together here and I’ve been able to go to Knoxville numerous times to children’s hospital and we let people sign the cruiser so the kids can actually sign their name to the hood of the cruiser and things like that.”
