A toddler was reported missing after a grandfather mistakenly picked up the wrong child from nursery . ‌

An investigation has been initiated into the "nightmare" scenario where a tot disappeared for several hours from a childcare centre in southern Sydney on Tuesday afternoon. ‌

Panic ensued when the young lad's terrified mum arrived to collect him from Bangor's First Steps Learning Academy, only to find her little boy was nowhere to be seen. ‌

After scrutinising CCTV footage, staff reached out to other parents to ensure they hadn't inadvertently collected the wrong child, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.
