NORFOLK, Va. — Virginia Senator Mark Warner told 13News Now he's spoken to the Secretary of the Navy, John Phelan, about the investigation into the death of Angelina Resendiz, a sailor stationed at Naval Station Norfolk who was found dead in a wooded area in June.

Just last month, the Virginia Department of Health's Chief Medical Examiner reported that Resendiz's cause and manner of death could not be determined. Resendiz, who was 21, was last reported seen at her barracks on May 29. She was found deceased in Norfolk's Broad Creek neighborhood , not 10 miles from Naval Station Norfolk, on June 9.

"I've had a direct conversation with the Secretary of the Navy on this," Warner told 13News Now recently. "Ms. Resendiz and her family need to get the full answers."
