MONROE COUNTY — A woman has been charged with obstructing justice by concealing evidence in the investigation of the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Emma Schultheis of Prairie du Rocher in July.

The Monroe County sheriff's department said in a news release Wednesday that Karen A. Schwarze, 58, of Valmeyer, is alleged to have concealed a pistol to try to prevent the apprehension and prosecution of Emma's father in the case.

The father, David A. Schultheis, 34, of Prairie du Rocher, was charged Tuesday with reckless discharge of a firearm in the shooting. Sheriff Neal Rohlfing said the shooting was not intentional.

The news release said Schwarze also was charged with concealment of a homicidal death. The release also alleged that Schwarze attempted to influence others not to speak with law
