DES MOINES, Iowa —
Angela Connolly, the Polk County supervisor for the fifth district, announced her retirement Wednesday evening, stating she will not run for re-election.
For 25 years, Connolly has represented the fifth district, which includes north and northwestern Des Moines, the East Village, and parts of Downtown.
During her tenure, Connolly has helped with several major projects, including the construction of the Iowa Events Center and Lauridsen Skate Park.
She also helped guide the county through multiple natural disasters.
Connolly's term ends in 2026.
