Corporal Oscar Linwood Sprague was laid to rest in his hometown of Milbridge on Wednesday, September 3, 75 years to the day the 22-year-old went missing in action during the Korean War.
Sprague, determined to serve his country, enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II at the age of 15. He was honorably discharged after his age was discovered, but re-enlisted 6 years later in 1948.
According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), in 1950, Sprague was a member of the Company H, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.
