MISSOURI (WGEM) - Last fall, Missouri voters approved Proposition A, which required businesses to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Just a few months after it took effect, Gov. Mike Kehoe has repealed those paid sick leave benefits, causing some concerns.

Dr. Justin Coffey, Quincy University professor of history, said those who support the proposition are angry at this repeal.

“Fifty-eight percent of Missouri voters voted to support mandated paid sick leave. That is democracy,” Coffey said. “Now, however, the state legislature and the governor have overturned the will of the people and that’s why so many of them are angry.”

However, he said there is a second side to the issue that isn’t so angry.
