Will Smith was an early exit in Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after taking a foul ball off of his hand. Dalton Rushing replaced Smith in the top of the third inning.

Nick Gonzales fouled off a 1-1 offering from Emmet Sheehan that banged off of Smith’s right hand. Smith stretched and tended to his hand, showing visible discomfort behind the plate, but was able to complete the bottom of the second inning.

The Dodgers announced that Smith left Wednesday’s game with a right hand contusion.

More to come.
