U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 11,000 counterfeit Labubu dolls at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport last week, valued at nearly $514,000.
CBP officers assigned to Seattle Air Cargo on Aug. 26 checked boxes marked as “LED Bulb” arriving from South Korea and found the dolls, which were seized for being pirated versions of copyrighted goods, a CBP spokesperson said Wednesday by email.
No one has been arrested or charged yet in the incident. The dolls will be destroyed, CBP’s standard procedure after finding illegal goods and a “significant economic loss” for the smugglers involved, according to the agency’s email.
Brian Humphrey, director of field operations for the CBP’s Seattle field office, on Friday shared a photo of the haul on X, showing an open cardb
