MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Metropolitan School District will keep its current unweighted grade point average system for high school students.
A refresher, "weighing" a grade would mean making an "A" in an Advanced Placement or AP class count for 4.5 or 5.0 points instead of 4, and so on.
After Wisconsin Act 95, the Universities of Wisconsin started Direct Admit Wisconsin last August, allowing students to bypass the traditional application for all system schools except UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse and UW-Madison.
The system also started Wisconsin Guarantee, guaranteeing admission to all schools except UW-Madison for applicants from state high schools ranked in the top 10% of their class. UW-Madison is included if the applicants are in the top 5% of their class.
