FRANKLINVILLE, N.Y. — Nearly a week after a discharge from the Great Lakes Cheese facility in Franklinville led to tens of thousands of dead fish and wildlife along Ischua Creek, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says the company wasn't in compliance with its permits.

The DEC on Friday ordered that Great Lakes Cheese (GLC) take immediate action after it was determined the fish kill incident was a result of a discharge from the facility.

GLC voluntarily halted production at their Franklinville facility.
