Six people were injured after a crash that involved "approximately" 11 vehicles in the southbound lanes of Powers Boulevard on Wednesday, according to Caitlin Ford, a public communications specialist with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

All six injured people, including two who were "extracted" from their vehicles, were transported to a hospital and four had serious injuries. Ford said that all of them are in stable condition.

There is no known cause of the crash at this time and it is "still very much under investigation," Ford said. An initial investigation determined that neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor.

Distracted driving or excessive speed could have been a factor, Ford said.
