A man is in custody after a woman reported he sexually assaulted her at gunpoint inside a porta-potty at a Detroit park, police said.
Detroit police Comdr. Rebecca McKay said the man approached the woman just before 10 p.m. Monday as she sat in a vehicle waiting for a friend. He pulled out a gun and forced her from the vehicle, McKay said, and walked her toward Van Antwerp Park at gunpoint. Then he told her to get into the porta-potty.
When she refused, he fired a gunshot into the ground, McKay said. She complied with his orders, he sexually assaulted her, then fled.
The woman did not report the assault to police, but went to a local hospital to get a rape kit done and posted on social media about the assault, McKay said.
