ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars for the shooting death of a 16-year-old. The Clovis District Attorney announced on Wednesday that Giovanni Brown-Johnson will spend the next 11 years behind bars.

Clovis police say the shooting happened last year at Clovis Apartments. When police arrived, they found 16-year-old Demetrious Anderson bleeding on the pavement. They took him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Following the investigation, Brown-Johnson was identified as the shooter. A judge handed him a sentence of 11 years on Wednesday.
