PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria fire crews made quick work of a fire on an apartment building balcony Wednesday afternoon.

The building on Sunburst Lane in the Lexington Hills apartments was the scene around 2 p.m. When they arrived, crews saw smoke coming from underneath the third-floor balcony.

The fire was out in a matter of minutes, according to Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada. Nobody was hurt, and there was no smoke or water damage inside the apartments.

“It’s always a good feeling when we’re able to get a good knockdown on the fire, as we call it, and keep the fire from progressing to further structure damage. It works for the residents of this apartment. They’re able to go back to their apartment tonight and not be displaced,” said Rada.
