LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Some downtown Louisville workers say they’re on alert after a man said his car was stolen at gunpoint on West Main Street Tuesday afternoon.

“An armed carjacking is kind of wild for downtown Louisville,” said Katie Coomer, who works nearby.

According to a police citation, the victim told officers a man opened his truck door, grabbed at his waist to suggest he had a firearm, and ordered him out. The suspect then drove off in the work truck.

Louisville Metro Police Department said officers located the vehicle. When they tried to stop it, the driver sped away, collided head-on with a police cruiser, and became stuck in an alley near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street.

After attempting to run, the suspect was taken into custody.
