PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix area is bracing for another round of monsoon activity.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the East Valley, including Chandler, Mesa and Gilbert, that lasts until 9:45 p.m. A dust storm warning was issued for the Valley that lasts until 9 p.m.

A severe storm just east of Maricopa kicked up the dust around 8:15 p.m. It’s moving north and is expected to hit South Mountain. Parts of Tempe and Mesa were getting some heavy rain around 8:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Lorena is moving up the west coast of the Baja Peninsula, fueling a monsoon surge into Arizona.
