AVON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The Avon Pirates are ranked #2 against this week in the Class 9-B football poll. And I saw first-hand last Friday night how good this team is.

They are big, strong and will man-handle most opponents this year. It’s been pretty much the same thing every year. Their teams like to impose their will and run the ball down their opponents throats.

Justin Lukkes, Avon Football Coach says, “Like I said we have a balanced backfield this year and again we’ve got a very big line up front. I hope we can control the line of scrimmage all year long. We really have to play physical football. They’ve been working hard in the weight room in the off-season and working very hard since football practice began. So they really want to get back to that dome.”
