WARREN — Police arrested a man at a Warren auto shop Tuesday after finding a stolen truck and multiple vehicles with tampered vehicle identification numbers.
Police arrested James Clay Jr., 40, charging him with fourth-degree felony charges of receiving stolen property and two counts of VIN tampering.
Officers responded to Clays Trucking, 776 Niles Road SE, around 5:33 p.m. after the victim said he saw his stolen 2011 gray Chevrolet Silverado in the shop’s lot.
The man told police he reported the vehicle stolen and filed a report with Niles police on Aug. 14. The man said he saw his vehicle listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace that morning.
The victim’s girlfriend messaged the seller, who directed her to the shop’s back lot. Police initially could not find the truck outside.
