A man believed to be in his 60s was found dead after El Paso firefighters responded to an overnight fire at a Northeast apartment.
The man was found dead inside an apartment that was "fully involved" in flames when firefighters arrived at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, El Paso Fire Department spokeswoman Nina Brack said in an email.
The fire was first reported at about 3:40 a.m. at Las Puertas Abiertas Apartments, 10095 McCombs St, near the Dyer Street intersection, Brack stated. Nine firefighting vehicles with about 25 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within five minutes of arrival.
Investigators with the Fire Marshals Office are working to determine the cause of the fire. The case remains under investigation.
