No horses are expected, but the McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission will hear Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s controversial plan to relocate dozens of Salt River wild horses from the Tonto National Forest to a proposed sanctuary in the preserve.
The meeting and work study session is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at a meeting room in Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road.
According to the agenda for the work study session portion of the meeting, “A representative of the ad hoc citizen committee will present a proposal to relocate a group of horses from the Salt River Community to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.”
