WATERTOWN – The town’s water and sewer customers will be repaying the Water and Sewer settlement costs using a usage-based model. The Town Council voted unanimously to use this approach last Tuesday, after hearing examples of how each of three possible models would impact ratepayers.

The three possible models presented were equal share, usage-based, and hybrid. With the equal share model, each ratepayer account would pay an equal share of the annual debt service. With the usage-based approach, the costs would be recovered based on individual water use. With the hybrid approach, each ratepayer account would pay a fixed $150 annual charge, plus added fees based on actual usage.
