WAUSAU – The Marathon County Board is accepting letters of interest from candidates to represent Supervisory District 5.

Former board member Gary Gisselman passed away Aug. 10 following decades of public service including about 11 years on the County Board between 2006-2014 and 2022-2025.

Qualified candidates must turn in their letters by noon Sept. 12 to Marathon County Clerk Kim Trueblood whose office is located at 500 Forest St. in Wausau.

The board will consider candidates who turned in letters and appoint one of them to serve the remainder of the unexpired term set to end April 21.

Supervisory District 5 lies within Wausau city limits. The district is on the city’s east side and extends about seven blocks north and south of East Wausau Avenue and is bounded by the Wisconsin Riv
