CATAWBA, S.C. (WBTV) - A person died after they were hit by a truck along a York County highway on Wednesday night.

The Sept. 3 crash happened just before 10:45 p.m. on Highway 21 near Dot Faris Road in the Catawba area.

said the collision happened as a pedestrian was walking north on Highway 21 and was hit by a Chevrolet pickup truck that was heading south.

State troopers said the pedestrian died, while the driver of the Chevrolet was not hurt.

Highway Patrol did not immediately say if the truck driver would face any charges related to the collision.

Officials had not yet publicly released the pedestrian’s name as of Thursday morning.
