There are many ways to describe this long-awaited debut album from drummer/composer/educator Leon Anderson, but the most important thing to say about it is that it is world-class music.
Recorded live at the iconic Snug Harbor club in New Orleans, Anderson did the album as a 20-year remembrance of his start in that city and how it has influenced his life and career.
It comes off as a fabulous jam session featuring the kind of jazz, funk, bebop, and blues that has made New Orleans famous.
Performances by not only Anderson but also his supporting cast are amazing and, at times, breathtaking.
