PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - When Sharon Gary-Smith, board member of the Albina Vision Trust, looks at the new Albina One building on the 1700 block of North Flint Avenue, she sees more than affordable housing. She sees an opportunity for displaced families of color to return home.

In July, Albina One officially opened its doors. Since then, at least 10 families have moved into the building, marking a major milestone for the Albina Vision Trust.

The project is the Albina Vision Trust’s first affordable housing development. The building includes 94 units, 19 of which are supported by project-based vouchers to ensure affordability.

The project was developed through a partnership with Edlen & Co. and built by Colas Construction, one of Oregon’s largest Black-owned general contractors.
