Marc Albrighton believes the deadline day drama surrounding Emi Martinez will be forgotten by Aston Villa supporters if he plays to his potential in the next two months.
Martinez was left out of Villa's squad for the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend amid reported interest in securing a transfer to Manchester United.
United decided to move for a new goalkeeper late in the window but opted for Belgian stopper Senne Lammens over Martinez.
Unai Emery will be pleased to keep hold of Martinez after Villa's difficult start to the season and the 32-year-old has been named in the squad for the Europa League.
Albrighton, a former player and supporter of Villa, expects Martinez to keep goal against Everton next weekend.
